    WMP12 has stopped playing mpg's

    Hi,

Media Player 12 suddenly stopped playing mpg files. Sound works but blank black screen. I cannot remember how this started. Any ideas out there why this may be?

Remove all the codec packs like K-Lite, etc. Then Follow Windows Media Player Troubleshooting Guide step 6 to 17 then install Shark Codec 007. Let see if that fixes it.

Uninstalled 'XVID mp4' and 'K-Lite' codecs.

    Removed and reinstated WMP.

Installed the Shark codec and now the mpgs that didn't play have no sound either.

Wish I knew when this originally happened.

After installing the Shark007 codecs, you need to run the Settings Application once by rightclicking the shortcut and choosing 'Run as Administrator' to complete the codec installaton. If you are still having difficulty after doing this, try disabling the Microsoft Video decoder on the SWAP TAB.

Yayyy! Nice one Shark. I did also have to disable MS decoder as you suggested.

All works now. Thanks to all for your help once again.

    Edit: Have rep'd you both
