What am I on? Again what does WTV have to do with amazon or hulu? So somehow you still get InternetTV to work in WMC? And in your mind it does still work? Netflix BARELY and any problems M$ and netflix claim NO SUPPORT! I will say AGAIN unless you have a transmitter up your @! And now FreeView? So AGAIN set to Channel 3/4 and use a blaster to change channels?! Full Tuner to tune 3/4? FULL SUPPORT okaaay! Ok go ahead and beat the dead horse! Will just have to opt-out of this pointless thread! OK FANBOYS, WMC and WTV files are the shiznik and there is nothing better!!! GO M$!!!

Guess this is the whole problem. No one sees a problem with a CableReady tuner card or TV that REQUIRES an external tuner! No one has a problem with visiting the 50s and put a HUGE antenna on your roof for half dozen channels (unless you have a transmitter..). No one has a problem with cable industry LYING to the FCC...because what is left is SO WONDERFUL for EVERYONE! Not just the few close enough to a transmitter or think external tuner on existing tuner is A-OK!!! But it is ALL me!!!

And the ODD thing? Not sure what that has to do with WTV or WMC.
XP had no support for DVD even in WMC(MCE). Acquire 3rd party.
Certain flavors of Vista and 7 included DVD support but BD no support. Acquire 3rd party.
8 no support for either. Acquire 3rd party.
Nothing to do with WTV, except...
With as little added value in WMC and the amount of trouble people have with WTV files...
Again maybe the answer is STOP BEATING a dead horse and, wait for it...Acquire 3rd party?
    Seems like someone mentioned that!

The tuners on my computers are internal. They once configured are easy to use. They automatically record programs. If you live in a wilderness there are no Transmitters but where I am reception in very good indeed. Most if not all of Indiana is covered by one or more sets of TV stations from various cities. There is nothing 50's about a small antenna on the roof or in the attic. Media center works very well as a hub for media, duh! I do not have cable I use HD off air. The guy in the UK does not need external tuners either. Only when you get involved with cable cards and subscription TV do you need that junk here in the US or want to operate a Direct TV box and record from the component out. This thread would be better without your misinformation.

Was following this but was afraid to agree the D, especially after he was wrongly insulted.
So I will not be surprised if I do not survive either. I live in a large city also. Small antenna never works. So you are very lucky mr Indianatone.
    The UK guy and FreeView...
What exactly are you referring to?

15miles from transmitters. Tried small and attic to no avail.
Bought a new HD 60mile channelmaster put it on roof on a 30ft pole, could get a couple.
Was in process of looking into a rotor and got a letter from HomeOwners Assoc. that antennas were NOT allowed and wanted it removed post haste!

Mine is on the roof barely visible and I am about 20 miles from transmitters.

I'm running four Win7 machines -- two of them Zotac Z-Box mini PCs, two higher-powered PCs -- using Media Center on all of them to watch TV: OTA and Cable via a Ceton InfifiTV 6 networked tuner. I'm paying essentially nothing for Comcast's Digital Starter TV package with HBO... it's included with my Internet package ($50-plus a month). Yes, there are occasional issues with my setup (PlayReady updates that won't update, for example, having to reboot one of the PCs) but I'm extremely happy with what we have at the price we're paying. I record mainly on one of the PCs and those WTV files are automatically archived to my WHS 2011 machine. The recorded shows are available to play back in any of the four rooms that have this PC-TV setup -- except HBO recordings, those can only be played on the PC that recorded them. I use MCEBuddy and folder monitoring to automatically convert the WTV files to MP4 for mobile use, and it also removes commercials. The idea that Microsoft somehow isn't supporting TV and Media Center is ridiculous.

Thanks SFGiants. So that is a 300 buck EXTERNAL tuner? Uses WMC Remote? Blasters? Did they ever fix the issue with cablecards changing to an used channels and leaving it there for Emergency Broadcast? Your OTA? Antenna / Distance from transmitters?
