Windows 7 is using the .wtv file format for recorded TV.
Does anybody know (preferably free) tools to convert these files to for example .avi ?
In the past I used the dvr-ms converter, however this is not a free tool... and I hate to have to pay again for a new tool
I have tried TODVRMS but for some reason could jnot get it to work properly. Started allright, showed a screen and nothing happened from there on.......... Do you or anybody else know where I can read a manual/guide which tells a bit more than the short description on the download-page
I am aware of that thread and asked to get entrance to the beta-test of MCEBuddy. I haver seen this program work on DVR-MS files and hope to be able to test the beta soon. This beta is the new version which will work on .wtv files as far as I can see.

henkfrijters, toDVRMS works great. Change your source file name to something short. Like "test" and try again. Their are many quirks to learn when it comes to .wtv conversions and what the dvr-ms file will need once it's been converted. I should create a guide. what program do you edit your dvr-ms files with? just getting to dvr-ms is not the final step before you can edit.
So far I have just been converting the recorded files to .mpg and play them on a mediaplayer connected to the PC as a NAS-disc and to the TV as input device.
However I would like to get rid of ads and cut the recording properly to beginning and end. I am aware of the DVRMS toolbox but to be honest do not like command driven tools. I prefer one-button tools.
