Creating a workaround to the MS lockout of WMP11 installers on Win 7

Has anyone found a way to install windows media player 11 onto windows 7?

I do not like how heavy handed WMP12 is with libraries (as i went in to my registery and deleted any key referencing them) and while WMP 12 doesnt produce any errors or problems with my registery modifications. I find that i have to worm through a now disabled directory to actually get to my music.

No Installers Work at all, Not Even Official Installers
As the title says, not a single installer works, even official installers for programs, I trued using the Microsoft FixIt Tool, which shockingly worked, and it said there are no problems so no fixes were made. I also do not have a virus because I have three antivirus programs, and also use Chrome...

Preventing installers from creating firewall rules
I've noticed that some applications (the only one I remember is Steam, but I think some Ubisoft game did it with 'Ubisoft Launcher') automatically create in- and sometimes outbound firewall rules (I'm talking about Windows 7 Firewall, not some 3rd party one) without any user interaction. So the...

For those users like me who prefer WMP11 over Beta 12, follow this guide. Disclaimer: I take no responsibility if you break your windows media player, or windows itself for that matter. I recommend to take backups of *ALL* files that will be replaced, in case something goes wrong. Proof:...

Help downgrading from WMP12 to WMP11
I tried the WMP12 and I prefer the 11 for UI and that stuff but when I downgrade I'd like to keep my codecs (Default WMP12: AAC, MOV, MP4, etc & Win7Codecs from Shark007) and my thumbnails, I don't know if they both will use the same codecs I'm kinda noob in this. Can someone tell me how to keep...

WMP12 to WMP11
So, I've been reading a lot about how to turn WMP12 to WMP11 to get the taskbar player back. I've heard mixed results where if it does work, its sluggish or the player does not go away when WMP is closed, etc. Is it possible to uninstall WMP 12 and install WMP11? Windows website says WMP11 is...

Botched downgrade to WMP11.
As the title says, I tried downgrading to WMP 11 and everything went tits up, I guess I've got a mix of WMP 11 and WMP 12 files as well as a registry entry that I was told to edit. I've ran the SFC file checker thing and I'm still getting nothing. It's not a disaster as I am running Itunes but...
