Video Always Opens in Small Window, No Matter What

I'm running Win7 x64 RTM and I have an Nvidia 8600GTS with the 190.38 drivers. Every video I open from the net or on my comp opens in a small window. If I enlarge it, the video becomes grainy and crappy and the next time it opens it's back to square one. I have installed both x32 and x64 bit versions of the shark007 codec's so I should have everything necessary to properly display video in its native resolution, not some small window. I even tried downloading and using MPC Home Cinema and VLC player to open vids and even those open in small windows, so I'm assuming the problem lies somewhere outside of the media players.

Has this happened to anyone else? I've asked this question before and no one really had any answers other than asking what codecs I had and saying they don't know what's going on.

My guess; Your screen resolution is set to high for the monitor it is attached to.
you need to lower the resolution in the computers display settings.
    try something like 1024x768

I have a Dell 2408WFP (which is recognized by Windows) at its native 1920x1200 settings.

and did you try lowering the settings just to see the results?
maybe its a setting within the monitor itself that requires adjustment.

btw, i saved my ass by stating it was a guess. :)

No, that was actually a quite plausible guess and frankly the best one I've heard yet as it actually made me go "wait a minute..."

If it was something with the monitor, I would think everything else would be out of whack in being small or irregular looking but it isn't.

Adjusted my resolution down to 1680x1050 and didn't make a difference, other than everything looking like crap.

Any other takers? There HAS to be an explanation for this. I can't be the only one having this problem.

Can't say as I have numerous HD videos that run in native resolution using Shark's brilliant codec packs (Win7 Ultimate x64 RTM) as my monitors run natively at 1680 x 1050.

WMC opens full screen when I start it and on the correct monitor (I use the right for movie viewing and the left for gaming, mostly) and WiMP always scales to the native resolution of the video that is being played, unless it is larger than my resolution, in which case it occupies my full screen (but still in windowed mode).

Are you 100% sure that the videos are actually in a large resolution and not actually crappy small resolutions? Such as using MediaInfo to verify?

Yea, b/c I can switch back to XP since I'm dual booting and they play large and full resolution. So, I know it's not the vids. This has happened in all of the Win 7 RC builds as well.

Perhaps this could/should be moved to a different section with more visibility?
