Also, if you have been using 7000 for a while, you might consider doing a clean install - it will help get rid of incompatibilities, and the best news is that a lot of drivers for hardware are working a lot better in 708 OOB, thereby eliminating the need to install other drivers. The added benefit, of course, is that you'll be able to start with no previous codecs installed, hiding, etc. just waiting to mess up your system....
If you cannot do this, I understand - but it would certainly be to your benefit to clean install as opposed to upgrading....
If you have enough HD space, consider decreasing your current system partition and installing 7068 in a new partition to test just the MKV playback issues (if any exist on your machine) with the Shark007 codecs on a clean install without having to wipe your HD, thereby preserving your current install *ad* verifying the issue at the same time....
