Windows 7: Media Center Won't Change Channels on Set-top Box

I currently setup my Windows 7 computer with Media Center and my Directv Set-top Box. The first three days everything worked fine until today. I'm very upset and frustrated I've tried a dozen different ways to fix the problem but it won't fix. While using the remove that came with my computer to change the channels in the live TV of the media center the channels wont change. I switch the IR cable to a new one. I've reconfigured a million times. I've setup the remote different ways. At first everything works fine then it stops working.
One I setup my TV signal it works...Then I go threw settings and guide and edit channels and remove all the unwanted channels and then it's broke. I don't konw if this is what is happening all the time but I just noticed it this last time I tried to fix the problem.
Like I said I have windows 7 that was an upgrade ontop of windows vista. I am completely updated via the windows update. Any other information you need me to list let me know...trying to think but my brain is frazzled over this situation.
