    Low Bit Rate Error

Checking to see if anybody has any input to fix this problem.

I put a TV tuner in my aunts computer. We keep getting the low bit rate error while they are watching tv. Either using WMC or the haupagge wintv application. Some of the time it shows that error, other times it freezes the computer. The motherboard with onboard video was replaced, and so was the tuner.

I use the same cable company and brought it to my house. I left the tuner/tv on all night and in the morning it was still playing video. I have a surge protector protecting my tuner card, she does not? Would that make that much of a difference? I've also tried a signal booster on their computer and that didn't fix the issue. Do I try a surge protecter or does anyone else have any other ideas?

Did you use the drivers off the disc?
If so you may want to hop by haupagge and check for updated drivers.
It really sounds like a basic driver/application issue.
Driver makes more sense as it would affect wmc as well.

That was the first thing I tried... Sorry I didn't post that above.

The only other thing I have for you is bad connection.
The digital medium can get pretty picky. It's best not to use splitters or old cables, partly because older cables suck up interference but mostly just because the hardware is getting more and more picky about the exact nature of the signal.
There are several posts you can find through google on helping to reduce signal issues in a coax line.

This solution seems to have worked for this person.
