Remotely control PC through TV?

Is there a way to remotely control a PC through a wifi or ethernet cabled TV (so I can use the TV as a remote monitor w/speakers to stream internet videos, check mail and surf the net?

Have PC's, newer wifi enabled TVs and Apple TV & know how I can use the Apple TV box see/listen to iTunes content on my TV, but I what to have access to my PC through the TV.

Should think this was a piece of cake - but I just don't see any solutions out there??

(I can use a fixed ethernet cable if needed, but I already have very strong wifi signal everywhere.)

What make/model TV do you have, a lot of Smart TV's allow for the kind of things you want to do.

That would be fine however the OP has also mentioned he would like to stream internet videos, check mail and surf the net.

I think he would prefer to use it like a smart TV (i think )

But that would work fine, that's how i used to play my films on the TV

Thanks - but PC and TV will be far apart (15 meters/45 feet) so vga/hdmi/dvi cord is not practical.

Never actually used a smart TV before but i don't think you would control the PC from the TV but rather access media on the PC from the TV to stream media - How to Use AllShare on Your Samsung Smart TV - YouTube

You should be able to surf the web and access emails as standard with a smart TV without going through a PC

You're absolutely right about that. Skype and few apps too. But I really would love to use my PC as well. Should think this should not be difficult??

AllShare is like AirPlay - just Samsung style...

Not sure i can help you out there im afraid but hopefully someone with a little move smart TV experiance will be available soon.

Is it not possible to get a remote desktop type app for the TV? - maybe something like TeamViewer - Free Remote Control, Remote Access & Online Meetings and access it that way?
