TV Signal Set up troubles w/ guide

I've decided that it's pretty much impossible to set up Windows Media Center to work with my Dish Network satellite service. I get my satellite service direct 'from the wall' without a set top box and WMC won't let you configure a tv signal for satellite without a set top box. I can set it up using the 'cable' setting, but I'm not able to get any of the correct guide listings. (which renders everything kind of useless - not able to set the DVR, see what's on, etc.)

    Any ideas?

I've got Dish too. How do you get the service direct "from the wall"? What kind of tuner are you using? DVB-S? Brand? Modified? I'd be very interested and could probably hack WMC to do both guides and Dish tuning at the same time.
