    how do i activate my HDMI port ?


    im trying to use my toshiba c870 on my TV via HDMI cable,

    when i connect to the telly nothing happens, the TV says no source and the laptop doesnt alter even if i change the display settings and extend the display etc

    how can i use my lappy on the TV ??

    Did it ever work? Have you checked to make sure your running the latest drivers for your hardware.

    i have never used it before, its a new laptop maybe 2-3 months old. i regularly check for new updates so i think so

    This would have to do with setting your display adapter

    You have to open up control panel and choose Appearance and Personalization

    Like this also it should show two screens but with a laptop i think it has to be put into extended mode

    after that click on it it as you see the settings below will tell you default main etc......choose click apply if satisfied

    Is your cable "Certified" 1.3c or 1.4?

    (Cos older cables 1.3/1.3b etc can't handle the data thruput!)

    Usually you have to press a F key to step thru the outputs to enable the output. See page 77 of the maunal.

    indianatone, yes tried that, F4, when the cable is plugged in i get about 4 different options but when i change it to any of them there is no change.

    NEO101, i would assume so its the cable i use for my ps3, xbox and DVD player

    its okay people, figured it out, used a different Tv, basically for my main tv (samsung) the application has to be switched on before the TV can be turned over to HD1 2 3 etc, where as my other TV (LG) can be put on the HD channel before the application is turned on

    my laptops HDMI port is apparently only activated once a live HDMI connection is available

    so it wouldent pick up the HDMI cable with my samsung TV as it was not live if that makes sense lol
