Moving Music to External Hard Drive

    Hi All

    Windows 7 32 bit
    WMP 12
2 internal hard drives - 'C' - Program Files and 'D' Data (includes music files)

My 'D' drive is almost full due to too much music. I would like to move (not just copy) MOST of the music files from my internal 'D' drive to an External Hard Drive. However, for the music that I want to move off of the internal drive, I have numerous Playlists created.

If I move the music to an external hard drive (only plugging it in when I want to access those music files) will the playlists still know where the music has gone to? Or do I have to recreate the playlists??

Thanks in advance for the help.

How have you created playlists, did you create them in app for example in WMP as that would not be able to locate them on its own, if you tried to play them you would get error message and you would have to re point at ext drive but i worry you would have to do this for each track, depends what software you use i suppose im not that familar with many TBH and if you did get it to work then you would have to make sure that the ext drive was assigned the same drive letter every time it was connected
