Media Player 12 and Permissions
I have a PC with Windows 7 Pro and a laptop with Windows 7 Home...laptop is networked to the PC My audio files are located in a folder on the PC. On the laptop I mapped to the audio folder on the PC. Laptop picks all of the files from the audio folder on the PC, but many of the files that show up on Media Player 12 on the laptop show:
you do not have the rights to this file
Collaborative play for this file is not allowed
This file cannot be burned
this file cannot be synchronized
the media usage rights for this file cannot be backed up.
Theses files do not show permission problems on the PC and play fine. Over the years I have found to get permissions all that was necessary was to have Internet Explorer as the default browser. This does not seem to be the answer for the laptop. Most of these files go back to when I converted my vinyl collection to audio CD's and then burned them to an audio file many hard disks ago. This is the first time I have had limitations on the files. Open to any suggestions. Thanks for any assistance.
