MCE Remote Not Working

A while ago I bought an HP Pavilion 8175a and it came with an HP remote for media center. Since then I have been using this remote with another computer and it has been working fine but now I have decided to start using it with the HP computer again however it simply does not work. The last time it was working with it, the computer was running Vista x32 and since then I have wiped it and installed Windows 7 x64 so it could be a driver issue. Note that the computer I was using it with though runs Windows 7 x64 and it still works with it.

Basically when I plug in the receiver and press buttons on the remote, a red light appears on both the receiver and remote but I get no response on Windows. I installed EventGhost and it does not display any instance of me pressing any of the remote buttons. I have already tried uninstalling the ehome usb driver and letting Windows detect new hardware and installing it again to no avail. I've also tried all the USB ports in the computer...

What can I do to make it work? If I plug it into my other computer it works right off the bat. But into this one, which ironically it first came with, I get no response.

EDIT: Device Manager > System devices > Unknown device > Update Driver > Identified as "Consumer IR Devices" and installed driver > working.
