Safe to uninstall Windows 7 Media Center? Hi
Does anybody know if it is safe to uninstall the Windows 7 Media Center using Programs
and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off option?
Would having it uninstalled impact the operation of any of the Windows software and do
any of the pre installed programs in windows need it installed for them to function?
Since I upgraded to Windows 7, I have never really used Media Center and I don't have
a TV Tuner. If I ever did need it, I could always re-install it in again but I don`t want to
uninstall it if is gonna break the function and operation of other windows programs.
I 100% use Windows Media Player and other software for media playback etc and so I
though I may as well uninstall Media Center since I don't use it and it would save me
some hard drive space and perhaps windows resources too.
Thanks for helpful responses. | My System Specs |

I suspect it would impact WMP and maybe your media libraries, although I can't confirm this. I have wanted to uninstall it too but decided just to leave it since it's dormant until I want to use it. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Thanks a lot guys. I thought it should be safe because a lot of websites have
posted guides on how to disable and remove Windows 7 Media Center and
they don't mention that it would cause any problems. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

Hi there,
I know that this topic has been solved, but I would like to address this warning that Microsoft said. Click here to view the error but basically it says that if you uninstall Windows 7 Media Center, it may cause installation failures for drivers and software.
I just wanted to let you know this because I would hate for this issue to occur with you | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number HP OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz Motherboard Hewlett-Packard 1802 Memory 8.00 GB Graphics Card Intel(R) HD Graphics Family Sound Card (1) IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (2) Intel(R) Display A Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 x 32 bits (4294967296 colors) @ 60 Hz Keyboard Built-in Mouse Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 Hard Drives TOSHIBA MQ01ABD075 Internet Speed 10.93mbps Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser Google Chrome v.26.0.1410.43 |

I just wanted to let you know this because I would hate for this issue to occur with you thanks for the information. I don't know whether anybody has had the issue, but I disabled the WMC feature after a few weeks of my 7 Ultimate upgrade, and I've never been had any problem to any installation of drivers or software. I checked my drivers regulary, so I'm quite often to install some update drivers for my outdated hardware, and all has been working good for me. but I'll make sure to be careful, and maybe one day I'll enable the WMC again just in case, and thank you very much for the info, it's really useful | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite L510-P4019 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86/32bit Build 7600 CPU Intel Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500@2.30Ghz Motherboard TOSHIBA Portable PC Memory 5GB DDR3 of RAM, 3GB usable (2 sticks) Graphics Card Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family Sound Card Microsoft High Audio Definitions Screen Resolution 1366x768 Mouse Toshiba U20 Blue LED Techonology USB Optical Mouse Hard Drives Toshiba MK3263GSX ATA Device 320GB, WD Ext. Just an FYI, Microsoft produce a version of Windows 7 & 8 without media features installed, the N and KN versions so yes it works perfectly fine with the media features disabled in the programs and features in control panel. If you need any kind of media playback do not uninstall media player. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Bluethunder OS Windows 7 x64 x86 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1050T Motherboard ASUS M4A77T/USB3 (AM3) Memory G Skill F3-12800CL9-4GBXL 16gb Graphics Card Gigabyte Silent GeForce 9800 GT Sound Card Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS Monitor(s) Displays LG L227WTG Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard IBM Mouse Logitech Laser LED PSU ENERMAX Liberty ELT620AWT 620W ATX12V SLI Case Rocketfish Full Tower Cooling COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus with push pull fans Hard Drives ST31000528AS ATA Device
