Cant set media player access in default Programme
Hi I know this has been an on going problem as it is mentioned repeately on various forums. I have tried most of the suggestions put forward but to no avail. I have tried to open media player from the C: drive but it just shows the files but at least I know its there. I have tried switching it off in windows functions: remove tick/ yes/ restart pc. Reset/ etc. several times but no good. also tried re-setting defaults, no good.
Tried setting in Set programme access and computer defaults/custom, but it wont let me. Shows
*The circle before "Use my current media player" is ticked The area after is blank. No box to tick
The circle before "Windows media centre" is NOT ticked The area: Enable access to this
programme is ticked
The circle before "Windows media player" is NOT ticked The area: Enable access to this programme
is ticked.
If I click on the circle before WM Centre it ticks the enable access box for WMP??
If I click on the circle before WMP it ticks the enable box for WM Centre??
However regardless of how I tick it as soon as I click ok it reverts back *
Win 7 home premium was preinstalled at purchase. I don't think media player has ever worked so I did a reinstall using Recovery D: but same results. Windows media centre appears in the start menu but there is absolutely no response to a click on it.
WMP appears to work fine, apart from the fact that the recovery corrupted all my music files and when I try to play any of them I get various error codes. ie. WMP is not installed correctly. WMP cannot play the file although most of the file extensions are wma. However that's a different issue. Please can you help me to get media centre to work. Thanks
