Media player not working - flashes onto the screen for split second.

Hi all,

My media player hasn't been working for some time. I click the icon and either nothing happens or it flashes onto the screen for a split second then goes off again :-(

I may have deleted something when I was removing/uninstalling some things but I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Any advice?

I'll see if I can get it to show any error messages so I can post them on here.
