Make folder or drive show up on DLNA bluray player

My roommates computer shows up on our network attached bluray player and we can play videos and music from it. My roommate's computer also show up on my machine as a media device under network devices. I want to do the same with computer.

I have tried sharing a folder to my homegroup. I've tried sharing to "everyone" by typing in everyone in "share with->specific people".

I can't get the folder to show up on my bluray player or any computer.

Both my roommate and I run win 7 pro. The only network related difference is he is connected via wifi and I am connected via ethernet.

Thanks in advance for the help! Much appreciated.
