Windows 7 is great and I really want to keep using it, however i run media center on a second monitor and everything works fine until i put the computer to sleep for the night, wake it up then when i fire up media center there are artifacts all over the place.
Logging off and logging back on solves the problem, so I guess memory corruption. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi there valleyman can you update your system specs in your userCP so we know what kind of hardware you are using. This will help us figure out your problem.
The one thing I would say in make sure you have the latest video card drivers.

This problem never occured with vista media center. All drivers are up to date
I have the exact same problem, though not from waking up from sleep but from when I switch from Windowed mode to Maximized mode. Or from Initial startup of Media Center...
I've had this problem in Vista as well..but after looking around and finding other people with the same problem I believe I've narrowed it down to the nVidia 7600 that we all seem to be running..I have a 7600GT myself. Someone here; Windows Vista Media Center Graphical Artifacts - Notebook Forums and Laptop Discussion has the same problem and he's running a 7600GS.
So I'm guessing there is something wrong with the 7600 series video cards. But get this: I have dual monitors 1 DVI and 1 Analog (with DVI converter) plugged into my 7600 my Analog monitor never gets this problem while my DVI monitor (main screen) will get this from time to time! So confusing!! I need to upgrade my computer anyway, so I'll just hope it goes away after upgrading.
Yes this sound similar. My main monitor is vga with an adaptor, the projector is DVI->HDMI. Incidentally that link you gave shows the exact same dot pattern I get
I'll be a little clearer. It took a while for me to figure it out as the problem was occuring sporadically, but it seems to work fine until I put my computer to sleep for the night. Then if the next evening I decide to watch something, even if the computer has been on all day, the artifacts are apparent. Coming out of fullscreen solves the problem as you said, but I need fullscreen...
On the other hand I never experienced these problems with vista. I may try swapping the plugs in the graphics card around. Who knows, it may help

I have the same exact problem on my new Media center PC. I installed a clean win 7 ultimate on this , whenever PC comes back from sleep mode if I use MCE then my video is jittery and audio is crap. I have updated video and audio to latest drivers but still no luck.. any one had luck in fixing this issue? If yes please let me know..Thx
USB DAC soundcard
My PC don't have USBDAC, it is a Shuttle SN78SH, NVidia Geforce 8200 Chipset with AMD 2 socket. I have AMD Athlon II with 2GB RAM running on it. Any other ideas ? Valleyman did you able to fix your problem ? It is same exact problem on mine.

I also have a Shuttle SN78SH. Whenever I wake my PC back from sleep my WMC7 and WMP12 are unusable. Media Player refuses to play any video, while media center is very, very, very slow. For example it takes 1 min for the highlight to change its position.
I rather assume that this is a Windows 7 power management bug, which occurs with specific hardware. I tested with a clean installation of Windows Vista and there waking up from sleep does not have any problems. While a clean installation of Windows 7 I experience serious problems:
1. Windows 7 Ultimate x32 (with x64 tested too, same result) clean install + original mother board drivers (as they came with the Shuttle PC on a CD) -> wmp12 and wmc7 unstable after waking from sleep
2. Windows Vista Ultimate x32 clean install + original mother board drivers (as they came with the Shuttle PC on a CD) -> everything works perfect after waking from sleep
Initially I thought that some hardware device is causing the problem or even BIOS. But my last test rather points out a possible windows 7 bug.

I also tried to update all my device drivers for Windows 7 from here:
