FM tuner no reception after watching live TV

    Odd/interesting issue,

The other day I tried listening to FM radio in media center, no luck. Okay, could be no antenna (first time in a LONG time) or other stuff so I fix the obvious (connect antenna, make sure it's not stuffed behind the computer, etc...) still nothing. So I restart, go to media center>FM radio and it works. Kk, something funny happened but that's nothing new.

Go to listen to radio later, no-luck. Adjust antenna, restart media center, no luck. Restart machine, straight to FM, it works. Go to TV, watch some live TV, then FM radio, nothing.

Any ideas what may be causing this? It seems that AFTER watching TV (QAM/Digital stations only. No connection to analog on cable TV) I lose the ability to listen to analog, FM radio.

TV Tuner: HP OEM HVR-1800 (No, this isn't an HP computer, just a whitebox card)

    Windows 7 Pro x64
HP OEM HVR-1800 TV tuner (QAM (Digital), CATV (Analog), FM (Radio))

Note: I found a similar issue from HP China the referenced parental controls, have never used parental controls in WMC BUT, I gave it a shot to try and see if it fixed the issue and still had no luck.

First off, do you have the proper drivers in stalled and updated? You might have to rescan for FM stations each time you use that part of the card. You might want to try Driver Detective to make sure you have the correct ones installed. Just a thought because intermittentancy can be a problem with out of date drivers.

    Cheers

When you say 'nothing', what does that mean? Blackness? Error message?

This is what you could do I would uninstall the Drivers check the card if it needs to be reseated inspect the card also just in case /worst case scenario your Tv tuner might be dying by the way it is responding

I would pull the card and reseat it and go through the install process im sure it is a registry error preventing proper application launch a removal of all driver and a clean install will pretty much determine if it is bad registry issues

Also check hardware and device check if it is showing yellow cautions if so that could mean the card is suffering from an issue as well /Basically look in the hardware portion look for conflicts those also cause improper utilization of your card I hope this helps you
