Freemake users? How to force ENGLISH??

gang I've used freemake in the past to make backups of my DVD's.
this time [new install on a new hp laptop] even though the default language is set to English, in the 'easy' mode it picks Italian, and you don't know that until its done converting!
    never seen the problem before.
if i just play the DVD [VLC player] it defaults english...

i'm stumped. its a hard thing to search-term precisely enough to get a square answer

all help appreciated or I'll punt to handbrake

Zapp, Do you have the latest version and/or updates to the version you have? Also where did you get the program from?

    i figured it out.
i think i got it off sourceforge - just a week or so ago

now looking through the debris, i think the larger issue was with VLC media player. if audio-track 1 is not the one you want - good luck... I still haven't figured out how to force it to play some other track particularly if they are not named. finally resorted to using handbrake and forcing one audio only on the conversion

I'm not familar with the Freemake program, but most programs have a setting where you can choose the default language, or on Source Forge net they may have the program in several languages. I'm sure you've cheked all of that though. I always use handbrake, and never have an issue, so never have looked into other programs. Maybe I should.
