video error

    video error


    "files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. restart windows media center or restart the computer"

    the above message suddenly started to be displayed on every movie i try to watch. what can i do to fix it? i've reinstalled shark007 codec bundle but to no avail...:)

    A couple things to try:

    1) open an elevated command prompt and type "sfc /scannow". Let that run and reboot.

    2) Run Media Center Recovery Task from the task scheduler. Look in the Windows -> media center folder for this task (from within Task Scheduler). Run and reboot.

    3) Remove media center from Programs and Features in Control Panel. Reboot. Now re-add Media Center the same way (checking the box). Reboot.

    That's all I got. This has happened to me before and think I restored a system image to recover.

    I run shark's codec pack too. No problems. Be sure you have shark suggested settings checked and when it asks if you use Play To or Live TV, say YES.
