Wins Media Center starts by itself........

Sometimes when I boot up Windows Media Center just starts all by itself. I have checked to see if I'm infected with Malwarebytes and also it's Anti-Rootkit utility scanner and all is ok. Running PrivateFirewall 7.0 and Norton Antivirus.

    OS: Wins 7-64 SP1

Thank you so much for your reply. I don't know what happened but I suspect that when I was cleaning out my registry I might have deleted something that that belongs to Wins Media Center. When I ran Wins MC it did not open and my screen went black. Everything else is working perfectly. Can I re-install it or is there a fix for the files? I don't see it in my IObit Uninstaller or on Wins Uninstaller. Will be waiting for your reply.

Just a long shot here - you could try disabling WMC from Control Panel, then restart and re-enble WMC (IIRC you may have to do same with WMP when doing this) - see snip. Or maybe try a restore point (if you have restore turned on) from when WMC was OK.

YEAH... no problem now. Thanks for the tip. I tried using System Configuration (Msconfig) but Wins MC is not registered in Services so your suggestion is what I needed. Know I have to figure out why is Wins MC not working properly. Have any ideas? A few days ago I installed a bunch of drivers from the Device Manger so that could be a possibility. Well that's another project for the days ahead. Thanks so much for being a knowledgeable Windows Geek.....

Pretty much any product from IObit is not recommended by most that help out here.

The Windows uninstall process is fine for most products. Any junk left in the registry will not slow your computer down. Leave the registry alone - if you can

If the Windows uninstall process fails, turn to custom uninstallers from the vendor of the software... not a generic 3rd party app.

Good point UsernameIssues. I googled IObit and up came the phrases that make me want to reach for my gun - speed up your pc, boosts cleans and fixes etc etc. I also found a thread at Malwarebytes re IObit stealing their virus database, ditto Hijackthis. Obviously a top company . . .
