Media center cannot change channels using set top box

Running Windows 7 pro on a Dell T3400 pc.

My TV tuner is a Haupauge WinTV HVR 1850. It comes with an IR blaster and receiver.

My cable company is Comcast. I have a small set top box. I guess it's called a dta.
A piece of paper inside the set top box says it is a Pace DTA. I will refer to it as a set top box.

I cannot get Media center to change channels using the set top box.
I have tried to manually configure Windows Media Center to control the set top box. I have tried all the codes for the Pace set top box. Nothing works.

I know the set top box receives signals. I can change channels using the Pace remote.
I know the IR receiver works. Windows Media Center responds when I press buttons on the Windows Media Center remote.

Q1.) How can I test the blaster to make sure it is sending signals?

Q2.) How can I find codes which work with the Pace set top box?

    Hi cellsee6,

Please let us know if it was working earlier on the system. Kindly update the TV tuner drivers from the link below:

    Support for the WinTV-HVR-1850

If possible check it with a different set top box to isolate the issue. Also, let us know what happens when you connect the cable directly to the TV tuner instead of the connecting it via set top box.

Kindly update your system specs here by following this.Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

The problem is with the operator (me) not the equipment. I have solved the problem. All works now.
The solution was to install WinTv. In the WinTV program list there is a utility to turn on the IR blaster so it can be used by Windows Media Center.
