WMP 12 corrupt, cannot download any version
Hello,
I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Studio XPS 8000. I am the original owner, and all is legit. I have all disks. WMP worked fine for a while, I could save music, rip disks, etc. Then the little blue window that opens up to play a song started showing up blank (just the little blue window with no controls, forward, back, etc), and nothing more ever happened. I could put a CD in the drive and hit play, again the blank window, and nothing happened. Eventually the error message showed up "program is not responding", and it took forever to close. All attempts since have ended the same way. I tried fixes I found online, turning the WMP feature on and off, restarting the computer, etc. nothing. i finally downloaded VLC (a very glitchy and complicated player), but I can now at least play my music, but I really preferred WMP.
I don't know which Dell disk WMP is on, or if it can be used to repair WMP. I try to download WMP from the internet, but it just starts, stops and give me the error message that the WMP version on my computer is newer than the download, and cannot continue.I know it's 12, but is there no fix for 12? Help!
