    Media Center choke and puke.......

My new Win 7 install is still super clean. No wacky drivers or peripherals installed yet.

I thought I'd give Media Center a try using my Hauppauge WinTV HVR850 USB tuner. (It worked fine in XP and on my laptop w/Vista). I went through the entire Win 7 setup process in Media Center letting it update itself and drivers as needed. No problems popped up during setup. Everything looked fine. All channels in my local cable service show up on the proper channel number and with the proper shows for the time shown. Then I tried to watch a channel that showed up in the channel guide (Law and Order) and all hell broke loose. Windows freezes. I can ctrl-alt-del to task manager and try to end the program. No joy. The computer remains stuck on Media Center. I have to hit the power switch to finally get it over with and re-start. Windows 7 compatibility says this device will work. Not sure what the heck is going on. I'm sure if there was a problem it would have shown up way before getting to this final point. I've rebooted several times and the problem persists.

    Hi Turbojoe :)
    Which driver are you using?
Drivers for W7 are to be found here.
    Support for WinTV-HVR-850

Does the event viewer report anything worth knowing?

Thanks for the suggestion. I added the 50+mb of Hauppauge drivers and programs. Still no help in Media Center. It still freezes the system and then all I can do is turn off the power. No way to do a shutdown/reboot. I'd like to use Media Center for DVR and that's about all I want it for. Looks like I'm out of luck.
