I looked in EventViewer, and I found:
"Service 'WMPNetworkSvc' did not start correctly because CoCreateInstance(WindowsMediaPlayer) encountered error '0x800700c1'. If possible, reinstall Windows Media Player."
Go to %ProgramFiles% (and %ProgramFiles(x86)% for 64-bit OS) folder, and delete the Windows Media Player folder
Then go to
See if that helps.
- Open Turn Windows features on or off again.
- Check (tick) the checkbox for Windows Media Player and/or Windows Media Center.
- Restart computer.
I remember when I was struggling with this I was trying to replace the dll's and discovered that the version number has to match the version number of the original file. There are a bunch of different version numbers so I ended up getting them from our secondary computer which had the same OS installed from the same disk as mine. It still did not solve the problem.
That's the version I have too
What version do you have?
See if this helps,
