W7homePrem Media Center guide metadata error ? not downloading

I just finished 2 days of agony and have decided to ask for your help.

I janked out my ssd drive with a "working" windows 7 except no guide data downloading.

I put in a older 74g harddrive and did a fresh install, from the get go it has given me problems, including ALL the updates for windows 7 freezing up and locking uo overnight. mind you this is 7 with SP1 integrated.

so I worked my way doing 20 updates at a time, (this is the only way the updates would not lock up) this is weird as it has never happened before except for the ocasional update that fails.

I called Microsoft and did the call back thing, and they told me to do exactly as I was doing and finish up all the updates , specially the frame work stuff as that was crucial. I had already done those as the nvidia cards install it anyways.

anyways I have a Iphone video showing the system is "up to date" and yet I still can not get tv guide data, I can watch all channels with sound, just can't do any recordings as there's no data.

if there's a place to post the video to please let me know and I will share in the interest of finding out. so far ALL points to Microsoft's server on the other side

    any help greatly appreciated 9/22/2014

I had the identical problem with WMC guide not updating. https://www.sevenforums.com/media-cen...ate-guide.html

I finally solved it by going to Control Panel >Programs and features > turn features on or off (upper left)> scroll to media and uncheck WMC and reboot.

Scroll back to it and check it, open WMC and you should see the guide updated.

I did that 2 times with the SSD drive. this is a new install , and just drained, I can't go through another iterration of uninstall and re set up WMC. but thzanks I'm giving up for now, as I got some info from Jason and after following that, it's pretty clear the servers at akamai are the problem

What I had tried previously, was a channel scan-have you tried that?

I have using the HDhomerun Prime software . Asfor WMC it does one when you set up the tv signal ? no ?

that one I have done many times. think just for extra punishment I will try windows 8.1 and then on the 30th of this month IF they put out a preview for 9 try that too. afterwards I will be comitting myself to a mental institution.

I think I might just give up after that. and send back both cable cards and call it a noble experiment

    That's what I have too.
The reason I mentioned a re-scan of channels, is because that worked for me in the past.

thanks, I've been running this setup for 2 years now with no problem, about a month ago I started getting errors about not finding a tuner to record my shows. I was too busy to look into it until now. after giving up on my working set up. I swapped hard drives and re installed w7hp fresh and after all updates the guide still will not download.

may end up getting those new boxes Verizon want so much money for and give up on this hdhomeprime and cablecards. this is not fun anymore.

problem is there's not much on cable worth recording so I may just give it all up.

I just went to this link of a open ticket with Microsoft to repair their servers. I urge all to log in with your user name to microft and ADD your selves to the 106 users complaining with this problem, hopefully they will see how many of us are aflicted and do something soon

    thank you all
