windows media center has taken over

what is up with desktop gadgets and microsofts removal and warnings of allowed hacking thru this now cancelled application. that being stated, is it possible that windows media center has corrupted my hp compaq nc6400? everytime i boot this WMC keeps showing up everywhere it is as though it has been given permission to overide everything on my laptop! although i am new to all this new tech stuff it is so overwhelming and very time consumming that i have considered giving it all upwhat to do-can anyone help?

The gadgets do not work with IE11. Regarding the WMC you have to be a bit more specific.

Do you use media center if not it's a feature that can be turned off,
Windows Features - Turn On or Off

Here's a way to roll back ie11 to what ever was there previously,
