WMC Suddenly Decided it Won't Receive Four Channels

Until yesterday evening, WMC would record my PBS stations (8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4) without a problem, Now, it keeps claiming it isn't getting a signal on those stations which is odd because I can watch them live on my TV and through the computer using the Viewer that came with my TV Tuners (2 Silicon Dust Home Run HD Dual Tuners).

I've rebooted my computer and reconfigured WMC but it keeps just laughing at me when I want to watch or record those four stations, claiming there is no signal, which is a crock because WMC shows those stations as having good signal strength. I'm at my wits end. Anyone have any ideas how I can get those stations back?

So they show up in WMC guide data ?
But tuning to them gives no signal?

Something people say is to goto windows components and uncheck and remove WMC, then reboot and go back and add it in again. Then set up WMC again. I suppose that totally resets WMC to start fresh.

    Yes and yes.

I saw something similar after I had posted here but one also has to delete a couple of Media Center data bases. I saved the directions as a last resort. Another source that had the same problem said that s/he lost three stations the same as I did (received them everywhere except WMC) but the problem turned out to be with the stations themselves (no, I don't understand how that can be) so I'm waiting to see if the problem goes away or someone suggests a simpler solution.

I have my stations back! I checked just a little while ago and WMC was receiving the signal. Looking back, we did have a humdinger of a thunderstorm the night I noticed I had lost the stations on WMC. I was able to receive them just fine on my TV and on my tuners' viewing program but it wasn't until this morning that WMC was able to receive them. It's a mystery how that could be but, since it ain't broke now, I ain't gonna fix it.

    :)
That is nice! When things don't work like they should, I know exactly how you feel. Went thru that with WMC guide data for a few weeks till I flushed the DNS cache, then it was so easy and quick. The software if it fails should be programmed to flush the cache and retry.

Can we submit to MS suggestions for updating the software?

We can but it won't happen. MSpy has dropped WMC for Win 10 and hasn't updated it in quite some time.

In my case, I'm waiting for Silicon Dust to finish developing and debugging its own DVR and playback program since I use their tuners. We can beg and plead with MSpy all we want but MSpy has made it clear they will do what they darned well please, no matter what anyone wants.

it would seem its almost a world wide problem now Microsoft was all over the internet pushing W10 and it would now seem we are paying the price for the cheap W10 system which some are finding is not so cheap/free as they thought wow who knew
