WMP x64 and "pin to taskbar"

    Hello

I try to use the x64 version of WMP12 as I ave Seven x64 installed.
But it does not react correctly with the new taskbar.

With WMP x32 as for other soft, when you "pin to taskbar" you have one and only one bouton even with multiple windows.
But for my x64 version (and only this one) of WMP when I open it it create a second icone in the taskbar. That's a little bit annoying ...

Does anyone have the same thing ?

    Hi LePoilu,

Not sure exactly what you mean, maybe you're talking about how to change the taskbar items from combining items to not combining them?

Yes this is what I'm taking about.

BUT: The combining option is also ON. And there's only WMP x64 which doesn't want to conbine with itself.
All other soft work fine with grouping, WMP x86 work fine.. but not WMP x64

Hmm, that's weird. I don't have that problem with my x64.

    Strange.

Bah, as I don't see any difference between WMP x32 and x64 I'll use the x32.

By the way: do you know what improvment we have to use WMP x64 ?

    Hi,

The only thing that comes to mind with this is if for some reason, (32bit only compatible Codecs ??), although you have the 64 bit WMP pinned it is actually loading the 32 bit, which would of course be a separate application and thus have a separate icon, you may want to check with the task manager to see which version is actually opening.

Whatever it is it's one for the feedback button

    I thougt that itoo

But it's not the case. It's the good one, the x64 version which is loaded. And the taskbar shotcut launch the good version, the x64 one.

And I do not have any particular codec installed. I use only the default codec

    Hi LePoilu,

It was only an idea, so looks like its a bug then , all I can suggest is send Feedback and hope M$ corrects the error by the RC. Will have to boot into x64 later and see if I can duplicate it - it's not a problem that has been very common - well not reported anyway - but can see how it's annoying :)

    Hi,

Just to add that it looks like a definite bug, it happens to me too, the default WMP on the taskbar is the 32 bit, which may explain the lack of reports.
When I pinned the x64 version from the c:\Program files\Windows Media Folder it gave the same result as you have described.

    I will send feedback also
