DVD files in 7MC does not fit the Screen

A little help please.

I have around forty movies in my 7MC library, they are 1:1 backup of DVD files in folder structure. I use Media Browser.

The odd thing is that the latest four movies I had ripped are not displaying in full screen when played with 7MC, there are two thick vertical black labels wich reduce the screen to a square, and inside of this square I have the movie between two horizontal black label, the aspect ratio of the movie seems to be ok.

Like other movies in my library they are standart DVD format 720x480.
I don`t know wich direction to take, any hint will be welcome.

How do the original movies from the DVD display?

I've noticed this too. The aspect ration is fine on the DVD, but when I play the DVD files (all 1:1 rips) thru 7MC it's sometimes a small rectangle with the black bars on all 4 sides. I just adjust the aspect ration on the TV and it takes care of it. I just need to remember to adjust it back when I'm done. I would say that 90% of my DVD files look as they should. Would love a solution to this as well

What device is displaying the videos in question and what type of connection are you using (VGA, DVI-D, HDMI, etc.)? Be specific, please. Are all your devices HDCP compliant?

My HTPC sends the video via HDMI to a TV Panasonic 50PG11 full HD.
My motherboard is a Gygabyte MA78GM-US2H, with video integrated (AMD780G)

I don't know if they are HDPC compliant, how do I check it?

First, to be clear, it is not HDPC, it is HDCP.

Is "Panasonic 50PG11" correct?

Do you have a second digital display in use?

"It’s not possible to use two digital outputs such as HDMI and DVI-D at the same time, but you may use the D-Sub output plus any of the digital options to run two displays."

Also, in order to use the HDMI connection to a (W7 PC) system [where HDCP compliance is required to view HD Content], all of your HTPC system devices AND your HDTV must be fully HDCP compliant.

I suspect that while your large display can connect with HDMI, it is not HDCP compliant, and while it will display the content, it will not do so at HD quality. To test my theory, see if you can borrow/obtain a BluRay DVD player that connects with HDMI and you should note that your HDTV will play this beautifully (but not from a (W7 PC) system where HD video can be captured and copied unless, again, all required system devices are known to be HDCP compatible).

These same restictions do, of course, affect recording or capturing of HD video. I have made several posts on these topics, just click my forum name to find them.

I suspect your other files were 'stretched' while encoding but are actually not 1080p files, yes?

What do you mean by the term HD? I'm assuming you mean High Definition.

In this case I can't make correlation with my problem, since DVDs does not have "HD" content, but SD.

On the other hand, I have no problem with my (full)HD videos, my HTPC has a Blu-ray driver which plays BD perfectly, I also have many 1080p/720p MKV in my movie library that display amazing HD images on the Pana50G11.

My complaint is about some damn DVDs (not all) that are displayed as a small rectangle, requiring zoom to fill the screen.

I guess I was going by your original post and not your later clarifications? Which one is accurate?

To summarize: You do have HDCP compliance (and can display HD content in 1080p), but you also have non-HD DVD's that play in letterbox...yup..that is what happens... If you did not have HDCP compliance all of your videos would play in letterbox, unless you altered the protection scheme, something I would not do as defeating a protection scheme is let's say 'frowned upon" (at a minimum)...all of this is by design and is outlined in the links provided...
