    XBox 360 Media Center Hangs/Disconnects

    Hi,

I have Win 7 installed on my laptop and XBox 360 with the MCE extender installed - both connected thru WiFi (Beetel 450BX1 - ADSL2 + Router).

The problem is - when I connect to MCE on my XBox, all goes fine until it finally connects and shows the main MCE screen. But after that - the screen freezes and does not respond. A few seconds later, it disconnects the network and goes to [network disconnected - retry option]. Once I click "cancel" and return to the main XBox dashboard, the modem/router reconnects to network (/internet) again.

    Any help is much appreciated!

I had problems streaming movies from PC to xbox 360 using windows media player 12 using a build older than 7000 now im using the official 7000 build everything seems fine, try re installing windows or checking firewall ports are open etc it could be a setting in your pc configuration blocking the connection somehow? can you stream movies etc via wmp12?

I'm having the same issue, windows 7 x64 ultimate, firewall on or off, doesnt matter.. i get the message after it connects on the xbox 360:

    "extender disconnected"

A program on your windows media pc has caused the xbox 360 to disconnect. would you like to reconnect?

I have a friend who tried his win 7 x64 with his 360, he reported it worked fine..

Maybe its an addon i've added to media center?

IE: media browser 2.1 or yougle or netflix addon, hd homerun, etc

I should also note that on the pc side.. it hits the "building media library" part, but its here that it causes the xbox to lose the connection over and over, eventually the pc media center extender setup fails in the end.

I had the exact same problem and after seeing the above suggestion that it might be an add on, I uninstalled 'Roxio Media Creator' and the problem was instantly resolved. Now watching streaming video without any trouble so far. I would suggest removing any non windows media add ons. Hope this helps!

    RIGHT!!!!,

I too have the same problem and through many pages of forums i have sifted to find nil solutions which resolved it.

I have however now found a solution, it works on my machine and i hopefully it works on yours, as now media streams perfectly to my xbox360 with no hangs or dissconnects.

If you open up your Task Manager and go to the processes tab and look for a iTunes process, cant remember it name off the top of my head but it will be there even if itunes isnt running. Anyway close all the iTunes processes and retry your xbox media centre.

Since then i have ditched iTunes and uninstalled if completely from my machine and out of the reg. Was always a clumsy program anyway..... opinions?? nooo, i better not open that bucket of worms... lol

Anyway worked fine for me, Good luck to y'all.

    Peace Homes.
