I was about to post this!

KMPlayer literally changed my life. It's the most configurable, extensible, no-nonsense player I have ever used, and is one of the first 3 programs I install on any new PC!

For movie & any video formats, Media Player Classic - Homecinema and KMPlayer are the best for me. I really love them!

Km Player is actually very good. Even though I'm not using it right now it is one of the best out there. It is very light and easy to operate. There are plenty of skins and plug ins for it also. It plays all formats and gets my seal of approval. If i wasn't using wmp 12 I would go for that all day long over anything else.

I swear by KMPlayer. It is hands down the ONLY video player that plays every video format there is without needing to be a codec guru. It even supports embeded subs in MKV files. If you use external subs, or multiple srt files with avi...Medial Player Classic combined with the CCCP seems to handle auto sync better. One thing on an LCD, is to change the decoder in both MPC and KM to hali video renderer. It fixes the contrast issues with some video files.
For audio, I swear by MediaMonkey...and the latest version also supports the iPod Touch and iPhone (if your a sucker to buy an iPropoganda device). Its great because it also doesnt copy protect the files, which you need to hack not to do on iTunes. Someone already mentioned the tagging features...the best! As far as if MediaMonkey freezes...its a AHCI driver issue. You just need to go to intel and download the latest AHCI/RAID driver.

KM seems nice but I dont like the Winamp-style players.. why? I like the WMP interface, all integrated and easy to select. I will keep QMP until a good player comes by... the only bad thing is that it doesn't sync with iphone =(
