Windows 7: No Video Import to WMV?

No Video Import to WMV?

I just connected my DV camera to Win 7 and discovered that the only format that Win 7's Import Video utility will import to is AVI. There does not appear to be any format option other than AVI (which are HUGE). What happened to WMV? It was there in Vista?

Windows does not decide what the file format is, the camera does. You may have had software that came with the camera that would automatically convert it on import to WMV files. I would contact the camera manufacturer and inquire about this.

Have you tried dragging the imported avi file into Windows Live Movie Maker and then saving the movie as a wmv?
If you'd prefer to use the Vista version of WLMM instead, have a look at this tutorial:
