Problem adding Xbox extender.

Sorry if this has already been posted, I looked and couldn't find it. I am trying to add the extender for my xbox 360 to my wireless laptop, but as soon as I add the 8 digit code and click next, the screen goes black and I get a message stating that media center has stopped working. I have tried disabling firewalls, but no luck. For more information, I am using my laptop wireless and have my Xbox connected by ethernet cable to the router.

really? nobody else have this problem? Must just be my bad luck.
