Windows 7 - WMC7 and any type of remote |

WMC7 and any type of remote I have Windows Media center 7, Pinnacle 800i tuner card that recognizes QAMclear and a FIOS STB (QIP 2500-03) and FIOS remote.
Before MCE7 starts searching for the TV Signal it clearly states to make sure my IR receiver and remote are activated, STB is plugged, etc. etc. I assumed that meant my STB and FIOS remote.
MCE 7 recognizes the tuner after the channel scan (when it tells me to choose a channel I can see a preview stream on channel 3), I choose that option and hit next, but then when it comes to the IR Receiver it says IR receiver not recognized. Try again.
If I purchase an IR receiver, will I also need a matching remote control and give up the FIOS remote? I don't have the money to be guessing, so I was hoping someone else had this situation occur. It seems to me you would need a remote that is MCE 7 compatible as well as compatible with the IR receiver.
I did find a pinnacle remote for $38 from tigerdirect, com that I think will work.

I suggest that you only use the TV Tuner manufacturer's recommendation for a remote, ie, many sites do not properly note what version of Windows a remote works with or what tuners, etc. Ask Pinnacle. (BTW, it's ClearQAM).

I was just suggesting that because I didn't have any problems with media center recognizing it. It was a suggestion because they said MC was not recognizing the remote. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number compaq sr5410f case OS Windows 7 Pro 64 SP1 CPU AMD X2 4450E @ 2.3 ghz Motherboard Biostar MCP6P M2+ Memory 4.0 g Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT , 512mb Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays auria eq2367 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard logitech wave cordless Mouse logitech LX8 cordless laser mouse PSU 250 watts Case compaq Cooling couple fans Hard Drives 1 tb Hitachi HDT721010SLA scsi, 500 gb external Internet Speed comcast hi speed 19 dn 8 up Other Info Laptop specs: HP g7-1365dx /

in response Hello, so even though ther remote says Vista on the link you attached, it works with Win 7/MCE 7?
I have a remote that came with the tuner card as well as the IR receiver, but I think my FIOS STB overrides it when it comes to MCE 7.
The tuner card did come with Tv Center Pro, but when that program scans the channel it only finds Channel 3 and no EPG downloads, so you can only record what you are currently watching, you can't schedule a recording. Hence, why I was trying MCE.
My biggest concern is spending a lot of money trying various solutions to make it work. Neither the tuner card company or FIOS have been much help. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number gateway dx4200-09 OS Windows 7 CPU Quad core Phenom 64 Memory 4GB Monitor(s) Displays AOC 22" Hard Drives 640 GB |

Yes it works on my 7 home premium 64 bit, my card came with it's own remote too but I have a STB and the remote that came with the card didn't work on the STB so I got that one and it works fine for me. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number compaq sr5410f case OS Windows 7 Pro 64 SP1 CPU AMD X2 4450E @ 2.3 ghz Motherboard Biostar MCP6P M2+ Memory 4.0 g Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT , 512mb Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays auria eq2367 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard logitech wave cordless Mouse logitech LX8 cordless laser mouse PSU 250 watts Case compaq Cooling couple fans Hard Drives 1 tb Hitachi HDT721010SLA scsi, 500 gb external Internet Speed comcast hi speed 19 dn 8 up Other Info Laptop specs: HP g7-1365dx /

You may have 'overwritten' some required setup files or reg entries when you installed the third party software which is not required at all now with Windows 7 WMC. Uninstall all of it and try again and if that does not work contact Pinnacle for a full uninstall utility and/or instructions. | My System Specs | | |

I would have to agree with you there AngelProcesser, I just let 7 install the driver and set up Media Center to do all my recording, no need for anything else. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number compaq sr5410f case OS Windows 7 Pro 64 SP1 CPU AMD X2 4450E @ 2.3 ghz Motherboard Biostar MCP6P M2+ Memory 4.0 g Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT , 512mb Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays auria eq2367 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard logitech wave cordless Mouse logitech LX8 cordless laser mouse PSU 250 watts Case compaq Cooling couple fans Hard Drives 1 tb Hitachi HDT721010SLA scsi, 500 gb external Internet Speed comcast hi speed 19 dn 8 up Other Info Laptop specs: HP g7-1365dx /

do you mean.... Hi AngelProcesser, Do you mean uninstall the TV Center Pro software that came with the tuner card?
If I can ask, how does that software interfere with WMC7 seeing an IR receiver and remote?
Just an additional note, the tuner card did come with an IR receriver but the jack is smaller than the one on the back of the STB box, or I was going to try and use that one, but no luck.. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number gateway dx4200-09 OS Windows 7 CPU Quad core Phenom 64 Memory 4GB Monitor(s) Displays AOC 22" Hard Drives 640 GB WMC7 and any type of remote problems?
