Remote Control not working.

Hi, first post, apologies if in the wrong section, I have also had a search.

I recently bought a HP Pavilion Slimline s5229uk with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Alls going well and i'm getting my head round all the changes but the one minor thing I cannot get to work is the remote.

I followed the steps in the trouble shooting section, checking cables etc. The remote light flashes, but will not start up the media center or anything. It's an external IR receiver plugged into the rear into the IR-IN slot.

It does not show in device manager.

Can somebosy please tell me if i'm doing something wrong or anything else I can check?

TIA

Does the remote come with any programs for installation?

If so, in windows 7 you can right click the setup.exe file, and choose "troubleshooting" from the menu. You can then choose to install it as a windows xp installation.

This trick worked to get my music headers to work on my motherboard.

I typed the answer in quickly, let me know if I need to be more elaborate, I'm just doing this out of the top of my head.

Thanks for the reply misterpip. I don't think it came with anything, it was all in the box when i bought it. I'll continue to have a poke round and see if i can find anything.

Thanks
