Windows 7: MC Detects Input type but no channels

MC Detects Input type but no channels

So I recently installed an ATI HD 650. Install and everything went fine, I downloaded Beyond TV and it works flawlessly, only problem with it is that is a trial that expires in a few more days here and I am trying to find a solution that works and I already have - like WMC.

With MC I can scan for a device, it detects my Digital Input, I have just a coax cable running to my tuner. After doing that it scans for channels but it finds nothing. I tried doing thing manually with MC and I was able to get it to take the normal channels that were like 55-1xx - like 57-1xx. The only problem with this is that my Digital channels (what I really want) are channels like 55-1xxx and MC doesn't 'allow' me to manually add a channel with more then 3 digits after the dash.

Has anyone run into this or is there anything else I can do for it to detect the channels?

Thanks,

Josh

A cable co. provided Set Top Box would be the ideal solution.

Uhh... I have an HD box, there is no coax output so that wouldn't work. And the whole point of this is to get TV on my computer with out a box.

If there is a way to manually add more then the 55-1xxx channels in MC that I think would work although I can't find a way to remove the 3 digit cap or get around it.

Did I miss that in your original post? Sorry.

My advise is still the same as the channel data is most likely encrypted by your Cable Co. so you'll need an STB. Encryption of channel data is usually all that is required to thwart people who 'borrow' services. This can be changed on the fly also and often is. I would consult your Cable Co.

I don't think I mentioned that in my first post.

I understand that most of the channels are encrypted and I don't get most of them but the basic channels should still be available in HD and SD.

With Beyond TV I do pick up all of those channels (about 40) and as I said I tried to manually add a couple of those channels with MC and it picked them up. But I still can't get the HD channels due to the limit on the channels (it only takes 3 digits after the - in the channel number)

Have you tried to manually edit each channel?

WMC>Tasks>TV>Guide>Edit Channels>click on channel>

Change the # to a 3 digit number. This will now also be what is displayed in the guide.

Edit Listings - choose the right one by scrolling through the list to match the channel
