Buy a cheap switch. You are better off hardwiring anyways. Otherwise you could get a wireless router and the xbox n adapter.

If you have an unused NIC you could set your machine up to act as a router. However you can pick up a cheap switch for $25-30.

A basic wired only(usual) router that splits one Ethernet cable input to around 5(depends on switch)

To the wireless adapter being expensive, there are alternatives on ebay for $40 although you would still need a router to connect but I'm sure someone more experienced can help you.

The alternative I'm talking about is this

~ New Wireless Network Adapter For xbox360, xbox 360 ~ - eBay (item 270522636012 end time Feb-27-10 11:40:27 PST)

You could probably find a cheaper official adapter if you're patient enough

I had the D-Link DGS-2205 (unmanaged switch) working beautifully with my Verizon DSL modem, but when I upgraded to Time-Warner Road Runner Cable, it would not work directly with the switch. I had to get a router for the 360 to connect with the cable modem. Not sure how Virgin broadcasts its signal.

NewEgg has seven 10/100 wired routers under $50 US - check your local tech suppliers.
