    DS,

Thanks for the link. I did some playing around with launching the external play but then I ran into other issues.

One interesting thing I discovered after looking at my file structure is that my standard DVDs rip to a more shallow file/folder structure that my BluRays.

DVD Example: g:\movies\tranformers2\Video_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB = plays fine in MC

BD Example 1: g:\movies\transformer1\BDMV\Stream\00004.m2ts = Error in MC

BD Example 2: g:\ movies\transformer1\00004.m2ts = plays fine in MC

While it may seem that my problem is solved by just moving my .m2ts files up a couple of levels in the folder structure, if I have more than one m2ts files (chapters) in the folder, it wants to treat each one as a seperate movie.

I DO have the nested folders option turned on but it doesn't seem to make a difference. So.... it doesn't seem to be an external player issue for the blue ray m2ts files but a nested folder issue.

I have to be doing something wrong because the whole set up worked fine 2 days ago.

Signed - Stumped and Dumbfounded !!

There is a lot of guys that are using the Blu-Ray rips in their MB over on the CT. I think if you bite the bullet and went and signed up and posted this question to the MB community, I'm 100% sure that someone over there can help you finger this all out, nice and painlessly.

Sorry I can't be of more help on this one...

    Seup problems

Guys, I need help. I've read through most of pages in this forum and have some success, but some problems.
Demon Seed, I've installed MB, Yamm, and the metadata download suggested by this forum. I have two test movies (OVer the HEdge and Quigley down under) in their own folder (same name) in a "Movies" folder in the root directory of a 1tb external hardrive name "O"

I've also shared the drive, though I don't think this matters yet.

When I go to MB configurator, I add "Movies" on the left in step one. I notice that nothing happens in MC yet. After I go to the right side (step 2) of MB configurator and add "O:\Movies", then I get the Movie option in MB in MC, however, no movies yet. The movies with art, etc., only show up after I have added the respective movie folder for each movie: e.g. "Over the Hedge" and "Quigley down under" on the right, in addition to the above-mentioned "O:\Movies." So now I have:

    O:\Movies
    O:\Movies\Over the Hedge
    O:\Movies\Quigley down Under

Does this make sense and is this the way I have to do this...e.g. must I add each movies folder to the right side in MB configurator in addition to the "Movie" folder?

After adding the movie folders, now the problem is I'm getting redundant art work in MB in MC.

Can someone help me with a recipe for their success in setting up MB in MC? My email is wgpoulson@gmail.com Please send screen shots of your MB configuration as well as words of wisdom on how to overcome this problem. I did look at the "Start using Media Browser in minutes with this Quickstart Guide" and also the "How to setup Media Center Movie Library in Windows 7" tutorial, but these two quick quides approached from different angles and did not work for me completely.

Also, I downloaded the MB plugins for Cover Art, High quality thumbnails, subtitle provider, film trailer, and mediainfo provider. Do any of these compete with Yamm? After downloading these, do they just work on their own? I did register and donate to Cover Art, but I am not sure how to use this. Are you guys using the "Cover Art plugin for MB? After installing the metadata download, is there anything I have to do or is this an auto-interface? If I understand correctly, Yamm retrieves file art and backdrop art only. Is this correct? Demon Seed, is all your information (folder art and metadata) coming from only Yamm and metadata?

One last question for now...if we are defining the path to the movies in MB configurator, is it also necessary to add the media in MC?

    Thanks all
    Warren

Sorry for your troubles. No need to add the movies to MC. Close the configuration tool, and also MB, and download this file and put it here>>> C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\StartupFolder (this is a hidden folder). Once you have copied the file to the above location, and changed it to suit your needs, reopen the configuration tool and you should see your locations in the configuration tool. NOTE: Doing it this way eliminates the showing long list of locations, and all you see is one. Don't worry, all your locations are being monitored.
I explain the entries in the file below
image: C:\Movies.png- this is the image for your movie collection, remove this line if you do not want an image
folder: M:\AVI Movies 1\- this is where my movies are, edit to suit your needs. you must put the trailing slash.
    folder: W:\AVI Movies 2\
    folder: W:\DVD's\
    folder: U:\Movies 1\
    sortorder: 000

I think the cover art plugin is overkill, but that is just me. As for the subtitle, for me it down loads the wrong subtitle EVERY TIME. Its one thing to download the right file that might be a bit out of sync, but it downloads files that does not even have the same words, or is from a totally different movie. Example, it downloaded star wars- the clone wars for my beast wars series. It also downloaded a sub file from a totally different movie for my boondocks tv series. But I don't mind, I get my own subtitle files, and if they are out of sync, I use subtitle workshop to resync them.

wpoulson I think most of your troubles are from the fact you have only 2 movies in your storage location. You need 4 or more before MB will display them properly.

As for the coverart plug in. It is going to look at all the images that yammm has downloaded and then apply the cover you set in it's config options.
To get to coverart's config options you need to run the MB config tool go to the plugins tab highlight coverart then press configure in the lower right corner. That will open the CA config wizard. There you can set what overlay you want applied, skip items etc.

If you need any more help just shout!

    Hello Demon Seed and Zay,

Guys, thanks for the quick replies. It might be a day or so until I get to some of this, but I'm excited to try your suggestions and help.

Do you two both use Metabrowser in addition to Yamm or just Yamm? Are Yamm and Metabrowser redundant of each other? So the Coverart plugin only supplies a thumbnail type for a given genre, but does not supply the jpeg itself, is this correct? Own edit...after reading your post a second time, I think I just answered my last question.

I downloaded Metabrowser 2.0 but after installing it and opening it, it asked for a username and password, which I could not figure out (my registered username and password did not work). Maybe this is a paid version, I don't know. Anyway, I then downloaded the beta version of Metabrowser and tried that. Realize that I tried that after Yamm and Media Center Master had already downloaded art and metadata, so there was not much for Metabrowser to do in this case. It looks to me the difference between Yamm and Metabrowser is Yamm works automatically once configured, where the user (I) have to manually run metabrowser. Is this correct? If you can explain the differences between Yamm and Metabrowser and what your preferences for the two are I'd appreciate it.

Reading through the forum I saw mention of Media Center Master, though I know at least one of you two gurus don't use it. Is it safe to assume that I might have duplicate images, backdrops etc. in the folders if I tried to run Media Center Master while also having Yamm in the background. In your opinions, in terms of folder art, file art, backdrop art, and metadata, is Yamm the only thing needed?

I will add more movies for my testing in addition to the other recommendations here.

Besides the issues I listed in the original thread, I noticed that some of my video clips do not play from MB in MC (Right now I have a "Movies" folder, a "TV Shows" folder, and a "Video Clips" folder). I have some video clips (mostly WMV files) that are visible in MB in MC and load when clicked on but won't play; clicking on the play icon does nothing. When the clip is selected from the "Video Clips" folder in MB in MC, the clip loads into a video frame with with a still preview of the clip but will not play; it's almost like the control buttons at the bottom on the control bar are greyed and inactive. I downloaded Shark007's codecs and installed them. Any thoughts on this?
I read a couple of posts on the fast scrolling on the options bar in MB in MC. I am having the same problem; it moves so quickly when I'm using a mouse that I'm literally chasing the desired option back and forth. Any way to fix this?

After I get this all figured out, I might try to stream from the external hard drive connected to my desktop to a laptop connected to the the TV. Any words on this? I know that I can share drive and folders and do this over the network separate from MC; I've already tried this, but I am asking specifically about using Media Center on my laptop to access a hard drive connected to another computer. Any isssues with this?

Thanks again guys. I bought a WDTV player a few months back, but the Graphics on MC with MB are so sharp, I am very interested in MB/MC's approach and am leaning toward using this and selling the WDTV

    Thanks again

    Warren

    Zay,
THanks for the file. I tried to copy the file into the startup folder. I deleted the existing entries that MB made from my configuration before. The problem is when I try to paste, the paste nmeumonic is grayed out. I went into startup folder permissions but can't figure out what' not set correctly. I only have one user account on my computer (administrator account). When I look into the Program Data>MediaBrowser>Startup Folder>Startup Folder Properties>security, all users (Groups or usernames) have Full control: System, Warren (Warren-PC\Warren), Administrators (Warren-PC\Administrators).

The Startup Folder has a lock on it. Under General Folder properties, it says "read only" and won't accept deselecting this option. I tried sharing the folder, but I don't think this is the right approach.

    Help, man.
