The least user friendly program. I dont know how to get the player to play .mkv movies yet I watch them all the time with WMP.

Cant find the settings to change the way all my movies are displayed. All it shows it "Recently added"

Where can you change all the backgrounds to the nice pictures in the first part of this post? I spent a couple hours reading the forum for Media Browser and I am even more confused than before...

ok firrst thing is Media Browser is not the player, Media Cente is
Aer you useing x64 windows? If so you need to use a x64 codic pack.

To change your view you first need to enter one of the first folders from the root page then you can browse your collection.
Dont high light the Recently added, high light the name below that and push enter..

To add a backdrop to the MB Root Page, place it in the C:ProgramData/Media Browser/Startup/backdrop.png

Your theme settings can be found eather froe the config tool under Display or from inside MB in the config settings.

If you need any more help please be sure to ask a direct "Q" and give me some info to better be able to help.

    1. Where can I find more theme's?
    2. Can I change individual movie "icons"? (all my HD movies do not have proper box pics)
    3. Can I change the default loading screen from recently added to my main folder with all my movies?

There are only the 3 themes, they are found in the Config tool in the windows start menu/Media Browser. Run it then click on the Advance tab.
There you will find the themes, the way to turn off the root page with the recently added is there as well.

To add an icon to a folder just place a folder.png or jpg in the movie folder.
To add an icon to the startup page use the config tool, click on the folder you want to add a icon to from the name list on the left and then click on add image on the right and browse to the icon you want to use and then when you run MB there will be no enhanced root page and Your Icons in its place.

I think I cover it all but if I missed something please let me know.

Hopefully I am not late with this, I am also a member of Hack7MC, and they have posted a link to a possible MB alternative. Here is the link to the download of an app called Open Media Library.
    Open Media Library
You can also head over to www.hack7mc.com to read the article about the intent of MB becoming a paid app, and them offering this other app as an alternative. They also explain how to use it.

3rd time lucky trying to get it running

    1st, BSOD while downloading
2nd, File not found after selecting to run instead of save
3rd, downloading again as 'save' (at 1/3 of the speed) hope this works now

P.S thankfully it's a mate's lappy with Vista 32 that i've been asked to look at LOL

OK, got it installed & running, and first verdict is....Only use it on Vista. It just seems to be a remake of the 7MC 'Movie Library' which, if you already have MB or Yammm (running Windows 7) then personally you won't need this.

Works quite well & imports the movies & has a nice selection of MetaData sources which would be nice to have in MB/Yammm (netflix found movies that the others didn't).

Overall 7/10 but only really needed in Vista

I need a little advice from one of you gurus out there.

I was at my moms house working on her PC. Which is a XP box, and was going through giving it updates.
After it was done installing them and rebooted it says that the hal.dll is missing or corrupt.

I put in a XP disk and tried to do a repair console and its asking for a password that I dont have and cant get. (PC is second hand)
So my "Q" is whats the best way to proceed?
All I can think of is to put its HDD in my PC and copy the keeper files to mine and wipe it out and start over.

Does anyone have any other ideas before I do that?

Try logging on in safe mode and resetting the admin password in there.

If it wont boot then I'd go for a re-install. Chances are its been a while since the last one so it'll be due it and should speed it up somewhat!
