Now If you do have each movie in a folder of there own, you could use a tool like meta<browser/> to fetch all your metadata, but again you will have to do it all by hand if your file names dont match up to the true movie name.

Torrents are all in their own folders with correct names.. does the metabrowser tool ignore dots and underscores? where can i find a tutorial on how to implement it? And most importantly, does it try and change any filenames/dirnames? Cuz their locked while seeding..

    Thanks

Here is the download link Download meta<browser/>

If you don't set meta to change your file names it wont. I'm not 100% about how it's going to work with your naming system but give it a try and see how it goes.

Worst case, you will have to enter the Sort Name your self and then find the movie info. The sort name is the one it uses for its search, which is not the file name. Its a listing in the mymovies.xml. So you may have to do it by hand, but you should be able to do it all with out changing any names.

Meta Browser works wonderfully in my experience. But you do need to organize and comply with a naming structure.

For seasons youll need something like:
    <Series name> ---> <Season (what ever number)> ---> [Name of Series] 2-second epidode.mkv

    for example

    movies:
    <Movie name (Year)> ----> moviename.mkv for example

    Where as <> = a folder name

Theres a tutorial on how to do it and different naming schemes.

Ok I cannot figure MediaBrowser out at all. How do I get coverflow to work? I cant even find the option anywhere. In my themes options within MetaBrowser I do not have a vanilla theme and under views there is no selection for coverflow. And also if anyone could point me to a good tutorial for creating branching folders within MediaBrowser it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and happy holidays to everyone.

Thanks for that I am browsing and there is so many choices, does anyone have a specific media extender they recommend(possibly cheaper than a xbox360?). Also, I use yammm to manage my movies, what do you all use for music?

To find coverflow at least for me when I open Media Browser on the bottom are all the folders I put in. If I double click "My Movies" it will open another window, ontop of that will be a button called "view". Simply click view and check coverflow. Hope this helps.

To add new plugin download location you must first go to the configurator -> plugins -> Add -> File -> Sources -> Add and enter this url ->

To use any of these plugins just right click any Host link below and Copy as link, then paste it into the url window and save. Then restart the config tool and go back to add plugin, the new plugin will be in the list available for download.
Note: Some plugins have there own config options that you must configure before they will work.

If you need help with a plugin you can send the author a Private Message by clicking on there name. But you will need to be a member of the Media Browser Forum to use the PM links.
The Vanilla theme has moved to a plugin so that the author can keep it updated with out needing to what untill and new release of MB. Most new themes will now be a plugin.

vanilla theme is now vanilla 2.0 and is a plug in.

by default you should have only Default and Diamond themes now with the new media browser 2.2.1 (Firestorm).

To enable vanilla 2.0 go here:
    Vanilla Plugin for MediaBrowser

Installation tab on left will show you how to activate the plug in

((Edit) im too slow, you beat me to it DemonSeed :P

Nice idea, too lil MD in my lang..

Someone could make a workable plugin to handle metadata for complex dir/filenames..

    I definitely can't work with meta<browser/>... I can't even add a root drive!

Then tried MyMovies for WMC and it 'auto-got' half of my 720p mkv films! I just wanted something that my mum could play with a remote but it seems up-to-date info in my language (pt) won't happen soon.. what i was hopeful about MediaBrowser was the ability to use an external player, as coreavc+zoomplayer offer the best hd solution for me, since i can use the cuda to accelerate my nvidia card..

And i guess i don't care that much about covers and synopsis (in english, which defeats the purpose) to shell out for a logitech harmony.. plus having another app(s) in the background.. guess we'll stick with the old tried and true point and click (and if you really have to get info just go into imdb).

Plus you still gotta look for subtitles.. the only player i got that does that with one click is dziobas, one that plays packed rar video files.. (nice app).

What i'd really like to see is the new stream feature in utorrent have all this.. external player, simple info and sub auto-retrieval.. now that would be a TRULY 1-click solution!

Just click options in bottom left corner of Meta browser.
Under general Tab, you should see add new location. Click the box to the right with ... to browse for the folder.
    Save.
repeat untill all folders you want are added.
press the refresh button in bottom left of Meta browser by options button and it will list everything.
You can then choose a movie and click Fetch metadata

These steps do not work for you?
