What is the best method of moving Media Browsers Image Cache?

I do not want it on my OS drive, rather move it from its default:

    C:/Program Data/Media Browser/ImageCache

    To:

    E:/System/Media Browser/ImageCache

Would moving it there, deleteing the original on C then executing from Cmd prompt:
    MKLINK /J C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\ImageCache E:\System\MediaBrowser\ImageCache

Be the best way, or is there a better method?

unless im completly missing it, I can not find anything in Media browsers options to allow me to choose where i want it.

That is exactly the best way to move it.

What about the mediabrowserxml.config file? I have dug around in it yet, but maybe there is a tag in there you can edit. I will check it out later and see if that works, or if there is a tag in it for that.
Hey Demon, I remember you did a post about moving MB to a RAM drive.
    1. Are you still using that option
    2. How is it working for you
    3. Any tips before I do mine? I remember something happening to you and lost your data.

Yeah I still have my Image cache in ram. And it has made my MB soooo much faster. I have set my ram drive at 2.50gb and I haven't had to many problems with it. I do clear it once in a while just to keep it from getting to cluttered.
The way I have it setup now, it saves the info in ram to a image on shut down and then restores it on restart.
I'm also using the experimental sqlite to handle all of the other cache and my MB is faster than it has ever been. See link to set that up Media Browser Community Tracker
Here is a link to setup the ram drive http://www.mediabrowser.tv/forum/vie...hp?f=12&t=2802
I will drop the ram drive software in dropbox for you.

Also, there is no setting to move parts of the cache, that's why I told him to use the MKLINK /J

Thanks for the tip Demon and for correcting me on the mediabrowserxml.config. I did not see a dl for the sqlite. Thanks for the ram software.Edit: I got the sqlite: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlite-dotnet2/
@wishmaster: Remember that if your computer suffers a power loss, you could lose your data. so have a bakup system in place so you can put it back if you need to. My system is on a UPS so that serves as an additional backup system. If you want you could just have the builtin backup system fun schedule backups for you.

I am trying not to have to write this program, but I swear there was a tool on here that would scan movie folder movie.xml file and automatically update it with to point to your trailer files. Does anybody have that app that I can get it from.
Edit: I found the post with the link to the trailerxml app, but the link is broken. Demon do you still have that app?

Sorry, can you help out a newbie?
I just installed this and 'm trying to get covers for my movies.. From what i've read i've got to change the filenames.. is there a way of getting covers and info without changing filenames and dir structure? I say this cuz most of my files are shared and seeding..

    Thanks

Zay here try this one out.

    Hi,

App done, Please test it, Read notes below

    Code:
    Trailer Move v0.1 - Tempo

    Q: What it does?
A: I will break it down to steps:
       1. Recursively search the movie folder defined in the ini file (Movies_Folder) for trailer.*
       2. If there is a trailer.* and mymovies.xml the trailer will be moved to a new
location as defined in the ini (Move_Trailers_To), And the mymovies.xml trailer tag
          Will Updated or added accordingly.

    NOTE:
    * If the Move_Trailers_To folder does not exist it will be created.
    * You can use multiple movie folders if you want just seperate them by | (pipe)
    * If only a trailer.* will be found and no mymovies.xml the trailer will NOT be moved and you
Will see a log entry with the error.

    Usage:
    1) Edit Trailer_Move.ini (Dont use trailing \ for folders.)
    2) Run the app...
    Download Here
@puscifer, Sorry to say... but the only way to store metadata locally is to have your movies each in a folder of there own. The way MB works is if there is metadata in the movie folder MB will use that info in place of its own. Also if the file names are not as close to the oraginal as possable it will not beable to find the info that goes to the movie.

Now If you do have each movie in a folder of there own, you could use a tool like meta<browser/> to fetch all your metadata, but again you will have to do it all by hand if your file names dont match up to the true movie name.

Google "Media center extender" and you should find something that will work for you. Most any extender will work with MB.
