    IR Hardware not detected

hey, I'm having trouble with Windows media center, I installed a set-top box and when I set up my tv signal, it finds the set-top box but then I get this error saying IR Hardware not detected, I have this wire that came with my Windows Media Center Controller but do I plug it in to the back of the set top box or the back of the remote control receiver?? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and my Windows Media center Remote is pinnacle

    Please help

    **EDIT**
The set-top box is from comcast and the Windows Media Center controller is named eHome Infrared Receiver in device manager.

For a repeater correct? It should plug into the Pinnacle card, and then the other end that has the IR should go in front of the set top box where its IR receiver is and double side tape to it.

    Thanks
I got it to work so now I can use my Windows Media center controller. It just takes a while to change the channel but I can live with that

    Thanks for the help
