    no subtitles in win7 x64

I can't get subtitles to work in Win7 X64. (In x86 no problem)
I use vsfilter and dropped the files in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and in the system32 folder. registered the file but no subtitles.
ffdshow isn't working (yet) with Win7 so that didn't work either.
Anyone know how to get subtitles in Win7 X64.

    Thanks

There were a couple of posts here and there in this forum - however, which app are you talking about?

In WiMP I get STs just fine, even on MKVs - but in WMC I get none....

No and I don't want to. I use MediaCenter for years and want to keep using it. This subforum is called Media Center right.
Just want a solution to get it work in Win7 X64 MediaCenter.

Note it might be because I've got VLC and PowerDVD (came with Blu Ray DVD writer) already installed the LIBDVDCSS standard DVD encryption and menu handling stuff might be picked up by Windows Media Center.

If you haven't any standard DVD playing program already on your computer it's possible that the Windows Media Center might be hobbled when playing a commercial DVD -- don't know.

Suggest you install VLC -- it's only a small program and then try Media CENTER again.

Note not Windows Media Player of course.

See Windows Media Player & Center, problems with .mkv files & .srt files for the discussion we had on this previously. There is a solution in there after digging down a bit. I have not had a chance to actually try it yet....

However, it does involve installing FFDShow (and / or installing Shark007's Win7 Codec package[s]) to get them to work....

This was also .MKV specific, as far as actual discs, I am not sure yet how to change that - I know there is a setting in WM to allow 'captions' only when muted or always on but thus far I have only seen that to work with live TV, not movies....

My subtitles are working just fine and I'm running 7077 x64 MC (they work with my DVD's, QAM, and analog, and my movie and tv collection (for those movies that have subtitles)). I haven't even installed any third party programs...
