Hi,
I have a library of .vob's that worked perfectly fine with Vista MC and WMP , however since I have done a clean install of W7 none of them work. I get the sound perfectly, but the video is not there, I just get a blackscreen. The files play ok in Media Player Classic and other programs, I have installed Sharks Codecs, but still they do not play in 7MC.
Any ideas?
Try this, go back into 7-M/C and into your video 'box', right click and manage - get rid of your current folder selections that have vob files. Then, in M/C make sure your in the 'Movies' box. Manage folders and include your vob files. Has something to do with M/C seeing them as dvd's.
Still no joy. I had tried that earlier. Should have mentioned that I used to have Vista-32, now have 7-64 would this make any differance? The files will not work in wmp either, so I think that it could be something to do with that rather than the whole MC package.
Do you have UAC turned off?
If so, please uninstall the Shark007 codecs until such time that you decide to enable UAC.
UAC must be active while installing my codecs,
and it must be active when making changes through the included settings applications.
EDIT, did you install the x64 Components addon?

I havn't turned off UAC, so I presume that it is running as standard?
I have the X64 codec pack installed.
When Media Player is opened it shows as the 32 bit version in TaskManager, is this correct? should I be using a 64 bit version and if so how?
Sorry, as you can probably guess I am not the brains when it comes to computers!
The default WMP is 32bit and should be left as the default player
Open the 32bit settings application,
go to the SWAP TAB and choose to disable the Microsoft Video decoder.
Have done that. WMP now comes up with error message - " Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings" Screen resolution is only at 1280 x 720 (display = Panasonic Plasma) Graphics card is Radeon 4350, drivers updated to latest release.
In the 32bit Settings Application, bottom left, Press Reset All
Test a vob file.
If it isnt working go to the SWAP TAB, set PDVD10 for MPEG2
Reseting still leaves me with the black screen but sound ok. PDVD10 then brings up the error WMP cannot play DVD Video again.
Sorry, but i have no further suggestions. Vob is a simple format that just works. I have no idea why it doesnt work for you. I have never encounter such a problem before. Most likely you have unknowningly installed some other mpeg2 decoder that is taking preference and caussing your issue. If you want futher assistance from me you'll have to take this issue to my own forum.
