Windows 7: WMP 12 - resizing window size

Just installed both 32-bit and 64-bit shark007 codec packs from here:

Windows 7 Codecs - Shark007 Pack makes codec installation easy | Hacking Windows 7 Media Center

While I can now play pretty much all videos on my computer, the original resize issue wasn't addressed at all.

Your default player is 8actualy* the WiMP 32bit player. But I would go with the Sharl007 codecs instead - both 32 and 64, that way you're covered regardless of which player you use.

Just fyi, there have been quite a few posts from people who have run into trouble using that pack. It doesn't seem very good to me.

Both. 32 bit and 64 bit codecs can co exist.

Conversely, there have been plenty of posts about K-Lite not working as well. hence my suggestion to use the Windows 7 codecs.

Well, nothing is "not working" now. They actually worked very well for what they were supposed to do - support more video formats. However, it still has no effect on the original issue.

Really? Post them.
Here are the problems caused by Shark007 amateurish codec pack.
Badly behaved uninstall
Video corruption
Juddering mkv playpback
broken mkv compatibility

K-lite: none.

The only one that come close is this: increase in cpu use. The problem wasn't fixed by shark007 and the OP returned to k-lite afterwards.

But please, if you have a specific thread in mind please post it.

It could be being caused by some other incorrect key. Here is my pref folder, if you feel like going though the list comparing the key values.

If you were to delete the folder pointers that were specific to my computer then save the text as a .reg file you could import the keys and overwrite yours, if you wanted.

I really shouldn't have to do any registry modifications at this point. It's a completely fresh install. I should have the exact same setup as everyone else starting out who does not have this issue, which leads me to believe it's something outside the scope of the base install (i.e. video card/driver since that's the only extra thing I've installed).

Well, it's simple to rule out. Goto the device manager and uninstall the graphics card driver. You should get kicked out of aero. At this point (without restarting) you can go and open a video file to see if the behaviour is the same.

You could also go to nvidias support site and download their drivers for your 9 series. See if that fixes it.
