Windows 7: Help DVD's wont Play

This is the message that pops up when I play Movie or Commercial DVD. But when I play recorded CDR media it plays fine. I updated drivers dont know what else to do. My video card is an Nvidia 9600 GSO.


"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card"

Have you installed any codec packs or done any tweaking to the OS?

No I checked the updates and downloaded the right drivers I hope. My video card is an Nvidia Geforce 9 series GSO.

If commercial DVDs won't play, something is messed up with Windows Media Foundation. In the past I've had this happen, and I've solved it two different ways. One way to fix it was to install Windows 7 again. Another way was to install the shark007 codec pack and select the shark007 suggested settings.

Do you watch alot of movies on your PC?

I have read about some studios including nice little rootkits in some DVD's, pretty much rendering your system useless for viewing copyrighted material.

I would try installing a codec pack that was previously suggested. If that doesn't work, you may well have one of these on your system. They are nearly impossible to remove. A fresh install would be the quickest solution.
