No. The reason being that a failing HDD that is no longer capable of booting would yield the standard Boot Device Missing - Please Insert Media and restart (or similar). PXE is associated with network booting, and that has to be explicitly enabled in the BIOS.

Hi there. This "Check cables, exiting PXE" issue: couldn't it also be a simple case of failing HDD? I mean, you could read that error message also as "Can't boot from HDD, trying to boot from NIC, no cable connected"?

When I donated, it was in German. Even though I don't speak a word of German, I figured it out. When I made the instructions post, it was still in German, but I noticed that it had changed to English after I had posted it. I'll leave that up, just in case it reverts back to German for any reason.
Updated to include English instructions as well.
